2017 Acumen Mountainside Sauvignon Blanc
This lovely pale and golden straw colored Sauvignon Blanc begins with a bouquet of citrus blossoms, fresh tangerines, Bosc pear, and jasmine. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine continues with flavors of ripe white grapefruits, mandarin oranges, and caramelized Meyer lemon cream along with notes of pineapple rind, lemon verbena and wet slate. A clean acidity and pleasant texture frames the long and pure finish of this enjoyable and refreshing wine.
2017 Vintage Notes
2017 will always be remembered as the year of the fires that affected so many of our neighbors on Soda Canyon Road and elsewhere. While over 70% of the houses on the drive up to the Estate were burnt by the Atlas Fire, Acumen was completely spared. Despite the tragedy surrounding us, the vintage is truly excellent. The year began with abundant rainfall, following by a mild Spring, resulting in extended flowering and nice fruit set. Vines were vigorous thanks to the winter rains, and a warming trend in early Fall was followed by more mild weather, keeping sugar levels normal. All of our Sauvignon Blanc was picked before the fires, showcasing the outstanding quality of the vintage.
