2013 Acumen Mountainside Cabernet Sauvignon
80% Cabernet Sauvignon; 10% Cabernet Franc; 5% Petit Verdot; 4% Malbec; 1% Merlot; 2500 cases produced
This full-bodied wine opens with aromas of violets, lavender, fresh rosemary, and espresso. On the palate we find flavors of black cherries, red plums, mountain blueberries, mission figs, and chocolate covered orange peel with sweet clay, freshly turned earth, and pencil shavings giving way to ripe, mouth-coating tannins on the long and powerful finish. An elegant and well-balanced combination of fruit, tannic structure, and acidity, this is our finest Mountainside Cabernet Sauvignon to date.
2013 Vintage Notes
A warm, dry spring brought early bud break and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. Even weather through the summer months allowed for very healthy vines with moderate vigor and berry size going in to veraison. Harvest began earlier than normal, but with great hang time due to the early flower and fruit set. We had cool, sunny weather through harvest allowing for ideal pick dates with above average yields of excellent quality.
