ATLAS PEAK

Atlas Peak has been producing wines of renown since 1870. Located in Napa Valley’s famed eastern mountains, Atlas Peak is regularly cooler than Napa Valley’s other mountain AVAs, and significantly cooler than the valley floor. On a 100o F afternoon on the valley floor, our Attelas and Edcora estate vineyards are typically 5o to 10o F cooler, ensuring abundant hangtime and ideal ripeness for our grapes. Atlas Peak benefits from a diurnal temperature variation of as much as 50o F, which helps the grapes to maintain excellent natural acidity and earthy minerality—signatures of our Acumen wines.

2022 VINTAGE

The 2022 growing season began with generous winter rains, followed by a cool, dry spring. The weather throughout summer was ideal with no days above 100º F until a significant Labor Day heat event. With strong canopies, plenty of water for irrigation and a cool, high-elevation climate, our vineyards were able to mitigate the heat and produced grapes of exceptional quality and concentration.

NOTES FROM OUR WINEMAKER

This beautifully vibrant expression of mountain-grown Cabernet Franc draws you in with alluring aromas of red currant, plum and cassis, as well as notions of sage, thyme, oak spice and aged tobacco. On the palate, it is refined and impeccably balanced with polished tannins and Bordeaux-like minerality that ames the lavish red and black fruit flavors, with lingering hints of barrel toast, black tea and cedar emerging on the long, complex finish.
