PEAK Wines

With every vintage of our PEAK wines, our goal is to craft consummate expressions of our organically-farmed estate vineyards on the high-mountain slopes of Napa Valley’s acclaimed Atlas Peak. To preserve the complexity of our vineyards and ensure that we have numerous lots to choose from during blending, we individually ferment each block and varietal. Then, after extensive sensory analysis, we select our very finest blocks and barrels of wine to craft our PEAK wines.

With our PEAK Sauvignon Blanc, we seek to reflect our rugged mountain terroir in a refined, elegant, and age-worthy white wine. The grapes are sourced exclusively from 2 blocks of Sauvignon Blanc vines in our high-elevation Attelas Vineyard, which produces unique berries of intense fruit character and vibrant acidity.  Located in the famed eastern mountains of Napa Valley, our Attelas Vineyard was first planted in 1992 and was the original ‘home vineyard’ of legendary winegrower Dr. Jan Krupp. Attelas is situated at approximately 1,300 feet and features 32 acres of vines, planted in volcanic, clay, and loam soils. With a predominantly northwest exposure, Attelas is a cool site in a cooler appellation, making it ideal for our complex and structured style.

Mountainside Wines

High atop Napa’s Atlas Peak, Acumen crafts distinct Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from certified organic and sustainably farmed vines with a mineral core thanks to the volcanic soils of the mountain. Sitting above the fog line, sunshine can ripen fruit without experiencing excessive temperatures, ensuring that wines have structure and complexity, leaning towards an Old World style. For a broader appeal, Acumen’s Mountainside wines offer a higher production and, with the exception of the Sauvignon Blanc, are also 100 percent estate-driven.

This tantalizing mountain-grown Sauvignon Blanc leaps from the glass with zesty layers of lemon, grapefruit, green apple, and citrus blossom, as well as hints of aromatic tropical flowers. The lively citrus elements echo on the palate, where they mingle with luxurious notes of pineapple and lychee that linger on the bright, refreshing finish.

Michel Gonet Champagne

Available in our PEAKEasy Room, Champagne Gonet was founded in 1802 and, since then, six generations of family members have ensured that the House has grown and prospered. We are pleased to offer three selections of this special sparkling to delight your palate.

From the classic Grand Cru village of Mesnil-sur-Oger, known for its razor-sharp acidity, comes this elegant vintage Blanc de Blancs champagne. Delicate aromas of citrus and green apple are given weight by a lightly creamy, biscuit texture. Acidity is nervy and cutting, still very fresh over eight years after the vintage. A long, persistent, subtly spicy finish completes this keenly priced wine.

Gonet is a very old name in Champagne. The family moved to Champagne from the Beaujolais in the 15th century and worked in the vineyards before establishing a Champagne house in the early 1800s. Each subsequent generation helped lay a foundation for a successful domaine with the most recent patriarch, Michel Gonet, enlarging the cellars in Avize and refocusing their winemaking in the 1970s. The total holdings are around 40 hectares, consisting mostly of Chardonnay on the Côte des Blancs. The vines are located in the villages of Le Mesnil sur Oger, a little further south, in Vindey on the Sézannais hillsides, and also near Troyes, on the slopes of Montgueux.

The wine itself is screamingly good and completely over-delivers for the money. The palate expresses seductive notes of crisp green apple, pear, and honeysuckle along with lightly toasted brioche and slight honey. The wine spent 5 years on its lees so it has that creamy, beady characteristic that extended lee aging gives a lovely Blanc de Blancs. There is a splendid limestone-driven mineral aspect that lies just underneath the above notes that brings this all together. Truly a delight to taste!
