Bringing together the best of both worlds from our Attelas and Edcora estate vineyards. On the nose, gorgeous aromas of ripe blackberry and sweet black cherry mingle with notes of cola, anise, dark chocolate, and sandalwood. The voluptuous dark fruit continues on the palate, where rich, mouth-filling tannins add depth and nuance to layers of berry compote, graphite, and minerality while carrying the wines to a long, lush finish.
For the 2014 vintage there are aromas and fruit flavors of the wild fennel, black cherries, and fresh mountain blueberries that grow on the hillsides. The rugged landscape of our vineyards is reflected in the savory flavors of sweet earth, flint, and the native chaparral. The concentration, deep complexity and inherently powerful structure of the PEAK wines reflect our unique growing conditions at high elevation, with longer growing days at slightly cooler temperatures. The extremely long and pure finish shows hints of Tahitian vanilla, black licorice, and rich drinking chocolate.
With every vintage of our PEAK wines, our goal is to craft consummate expressions of our organically farmed estate vineyards on the high-mountain slopes of Napa Valley’s acclaimed Atlas Peak. To preserve the complexity of our vineyards, and ensure that we have numerous lots to choose from during blending, we individually ferment each block and varietal. Then after extensive sensory analysis, we select our very finest blocks and barrels of wine to craft our PEAK Attelas Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
Inaugural Release | The 2014 vintage opens with a bouquet of red flowers, hazelnut coffee, sweet hay, and the eucalyptus trees that dot the hillsides around the Estate. On the palate we find aromas and flavors of Luxardo cherries, mint chocolate, oranges, and mountain blueberries. The firmstructure and mouth-coating tannins display the warm, sun- drenched exposure of the vineyard and combine with arich freshness and aromas of tobacco, saddle leather, and granite that continue to evolve through the long, and well- framed finish.
