2018 PEAK Cabernet Sauvignon
98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec
Gracefully vibrant and alluring, this wine displays lovely aromas of currant and crème de cassis, as well as subtle notes of fresh bay leaf, laurel, and wild sage. On the palate, Edcora Vineyards’ firm tannins and Attelas’s finely tuned acidity provide a seamless framework for the juicy cherry and ripe berry flavors, with hints of dark chocolate and roasted coffee adding depth and nuance to the long, elegant finish.
2018 Vintage Notes
The 2018 growing season began with abundant winter rains that replenished the soils, followed by ideal temperate weather throughout spring and summer. With cooler-than-normal temperatures through September and no significant heat events, the grapes were able to ripen gradually and develop perfect physiological ripeness, complex flavors, and a favorable balance between sugar and natural acidity.
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon PEAK showed nicely, with beautiful blue fruits, scorched earth, licorice, and violet aromas and flavors. With medium to full-
bodied richness, it stays tight and compact on the palate, with a fresh, Bordeaux-like style in its tannins and acidity." 95 Points. Outstanding wines. These wines are outstanding for their type and are worth the extra effort to seek out. - Jeb Dunnuck, January 2021.
The Wine Advocate
"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Acumen PEAK Cabernet Sauvignon charges out of the gate with energetic scents of red and black currants, fresh blackberries, and boysenberries with suggestions of camphor, cardamom, tar, and new leather plus a waft of pencil shavings. Full-bodied, concentrated, and decadent in the mouth, the palate has a solid foundation of the firm, grainy tannins, and lively freshness to support, finishing long with a pleasantly surprising floral perfume coming through at the end." 94 Points. An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, November 2020.
"A blend of the Attelas and Edcora sites, both of which are also bottled as vineyard-designates. Dark, bramble-driven aromas framed by oiled leather and coffee beans. Taught and angular on the palate with flavours of dried herbs, hard clay, and cedar. The finish is gritty, focused, and has good length." 92 Points. Highly recommended. - Matthew Luczy, November 2020.
