2019 PEAK Attelas Cabernet Sauvignon
88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 4% Malbec
This beautifully complex and luxurious wine begins with opulent aromas of cassis, ripe plum, anise, and Luxardo cherry, as well as hints of cedar and sage. The saturated layers of ripe berry fruit continue on the lushly textured palate, where the flavors are underpinned by supple, fine-grained tannins that carry the wine to a rich, refined finish.
2019 Vintage Notes
2019 was quite similar to the “Winemaker’s Dream Vintage” of 2018. Following winter rains that saturated the soils, the vines coming out of dormancy had ample water to ensure a healthy budbreak. The growing season brought cooler-than-average temperatures throughout spring and summer. This, combined with the absence of any notable heat events during berry formation, ensured ideal flavor development. As a result, our 2019 wines offer exceptional energy and depth, with beautifully articulated varietal flavors and a subtle underlying power that reflects their mountain origins.
93+ Points: An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. Terrific wines. “The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Peak Attelas Vineyard is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps with notes of blackcurrant pastilles, blueberry pie and redcurrant jelly, plus hints of dried Provence herbs and fallen leaves. Full-bodied, taut and tightly wound, it has nice ripe, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing satisfyingly savory.” -Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate October 2021
91 Points: Outstanding “Blackberries, plums, dark chocolate, cedar, grilled peppers and dried thyme on the nose. Full-bodied with plush, firm tannins. Vibrant and structured, with pretty cabernet character.” -James Suckling, December 2021
