2019 Acumen Peak Edcora Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc
Tasting Notes
Showcasing the spectacular concentration and complexity of Edcora Vineyard and the distinctive terroir of Atlas Peak, this wine offers remarkable depth and richness, with aromas of sun-drenched blackberry, briarberry, espresso, dark chocolate, cedar, and graphite. On the palate, the wine’s powerful presence is framed by firm, mouth-filling tannins and an age-worthy structure that underscores the opulent dark berry and spice flavors.
2019 Vintage Notes
2019 was quite similar to the “Winemaker’s Dream Vintage” of 2018. Following winter rains that saturated the soils, the vines coming out of dormancy had ample water to ensure a healthy budbreak. The growing season brought cooler-than-average temperatures throughout spring and summer. This, combined with the absence of any notable heat events during berry formation, ensured ideal flavor development. As a result, our 2019 wines offer exceptional energy and depth, with beautifully articulated varietal flavors and a subtle underlying power that reflects their mountain origins.
Reviews
94 Points: An outstanding wine of exceptional complexity and character. In short, these are terrific wines. “Made from 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Malbec, the deep garnet-purple colored 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Peak Edcora Vineyard is a little mute to begin, unfurling to show blackberry pie, mulberries and blackcurrant cordial notes plus hints of menthol, unsmoked cigars and bay leaves. Full-bodied with an approachable, finely grained texture and with bags of savory-laced black fruits, it has compelling restraint on the finish.” -Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate October 2021
91 Points: Outstanding “Lot of plums and dark cherries on the nose with roasted herbs, earth and bark. It’s full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Structured, with a powdery texture on the palate. Earthy character. Try in 2023.” -James Suckling, December 2021
